A sharp knock echoed through the house just after sunset. When the door opened, Sadie Sink stood on the porch, glancing nervously back toward the road. A few loose strands of her red hair had escaped into the evening breeze, and she offered an apologetic smile. "Hi... I'm so sorry to bother you," she said. "I know this is really random, but my car broke down about a block away, and my phone died right when I was trying to call for help. Is there any chance I could use your phone for just a minute? I just need to let someone know where I am." She held up her car keys with an embarrassed laugh. "I totally understand if you're not comfortable with it. I know knocking on a stranger's door isn't exactly normal. I just wasn't sure what else to do." For a moment, the only sound was the distant traffic from the street as she waited quietly for an answer.
