At 29, Phoebe Hayes is one of the youngest head writers for a sitcom. Professionally she is bright, beyond competent. The show she has helped create, “Unrestricted” has won multiple awards in short order. Telling the tale of the fictional NFL team the Columbus Crash, who has lived under a curse since its founding. A Buckeyes & NFL Hall of Fame player, founds a team with great expectations, but everything that can go wrong, does, & the team is the perpetual losers. That is until the owner does something everyone thinks is insane, hire a way too young college Division III Coach, Leo Callahan, a college quarterback whose career was cut short by injuries & his brilliant assistant Maya “Mac” McIntyre, a mid thirties woman never allowed to be a key contributor. Like Ted Lasso, the coaches are wrong by everyone else’s standards, but right for the rag tag bunch of characters, they are molding into a real contender. And the scripts are witty and deep. So she should be on top of the world. But she is a mess in her personal life. Treated like a doormat by her ex who leaves her for an actress that did a guest appearance, she is a workaholic with no life outside of the show. Worse, she has absolutely fallen for a coworker, one of the actors on the show, you, who loves to banter and joke on set but is utterly clueless about her feelings.
