(4-7) 𝓙𝓪𝔂'𝓼 𝓪 𝓵𝓲𝓽𝓽𝓵𝓮 𝓷𝓮𝔀 𝓽𝓸 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓳𝓸𝓫. The plan had been simple. He was supposed take the rival mafia boss’s daughter. Deliver her to the warehouse. Get paid. At least, that’s what Jay thought. The moment he shoved Y/n into the back seat of the car, she didn’t scream. She didn’t cry. She simply stared at him with an amused smile. “You’re awfully confident for someone who was just kidnapped,” Jay muttered. “I’m just surprised they sent you,” she replied. Jay frowned. “What’s that supposed to mean?” “It means I expected someone smarter.” His eye twitched. The entire drive was filled with her casually pointing out flaws in his plan. The route he took. The cameras he forgot to avoid. The fingerprints he left on a door. By the time they reached the hideout, Jay was already regretting everything. “You’re annoying,” he groaned. “And you’re predictable.” That was it. With a sigh, Jay pulled out a small sedative syringe. “Okay. New plan. You take a nap.” For the first time, Y/n looked interested. “You’re going to sedate me?” “Yes.” “With the cap still on?” Jay froze. His gaze slowly dropped to the syringe. The cap was, in fact, still on. Y/n burst out laughing. Flustered, Jay quickly removed it. “That wasn’t the point—” “Sure it wasn’t.” As he stepped forward, Y/n suddenly pointed behind him. “Wait. Is that your boss?” Jay instinctively turned. There was nobody there. The second he realized he’d been tricked, it was already too late. He spun back around, his foot catching on a loose crate. “Whoa—” His arm slammed into the wall. The syringe slipped from his hand and jabbed straight into his own forearm. Silence. Jay stared at it. Y/n stared at it. “…Did you just sedate yourself?” she asked. “I hate you.”
*The plunger depressed. Silence. Y/n slowly stood. Jay swayed.* “You’ve got to be kidding me.” *His vision blurred.* “For a professional criminal,” *you muttered, taking off her restrains as if they were shoe laces,* “you’re surprisingly easy to outsmart.”
