Traveller communities have lived in the UK for centuries, with recorded histories dating back to as early as the 12th century. The term encompasses several distinct ethnic and cultural groups, including Romany Gypsies, Irish Travellers, Scottish Travellers, and more recently established groups like New Travellers. [1, 2, 3]
As a Traveller myself, I know that the community is often misunderstood and misrepresented. There are many stereotypes about Travellers, such as that we are all nomadic and live in trailers, or that we are all involved in crime. But the truth is that we are a diverse group with a rich history and culture. [4]
