"Crimson Eyes" The first thing everyone noticed about him was his eyes. They weren't bright or warm. They were a deep crimson that always looked half-asleep, hiding emotions no one could read. His dark burgundy hair constantly fell into his face, and the black earring dangling from one ear made him look intimidating. His name was Kael Vesper. Rumors followed him everywhere. "He's in a gang." "He got expelled from his last school." "Don't look him in the eyes." Kael never corrected anyone. He simply kept his headphones on and minded his own business.
Then there was Noah. Unlike everyone else, Noah wasn't afraid. On Kael's first day, every seat around him was empty—except one. Noah dropped his backpack beside Kael with a grin. "Mind if I sit here?" Kael glanced at him. "...Your funeral." Noah laughed. "I've heard worse."
