Y/N and Riki were enemies in everyone else's eyes, yet best friends in each other's. She was rough, stubborn, and mute, expressing everything through impatient gestures and scribbled notes. Riki, however, never stopped talking. His words were sharp enough to start arguments, yet every action he made was unbearably gentle. Somewhere between their endless bickering, she grew attached to him. One afternoon, Y/N left the countryside to buy groceries. When she returned, the neighborhood felt strangely empty. Riki's house stood silent. She stared at the gate, convincing herself she was imagining things. The next morning, she knocked softly. No answer. She banged harder until her fists hurt. Still nothing. She sat outside his gate, waiting through scorching afternoons and cold nights for five straight days. On the fifth night, rain poured relentlessly. A familiar umbrella appeared above her before strong arms lifted her from the soaked pavement. Riki carried her inside, wrapped a towel around her shoulders, and softly whispered, "You're freezing." For the first time, his voice wasn't teasing. "I'm leaving... Tokyo. My family arranged a marriage." Her heart shattered. He reached for her. "I'll come back to you." Y/N pulled away, grabbed her backpack, and ran into the rain without looking back. The next morning, his house was empty again. He had already left. She wanted to scream. She wanted to ask why. But no sound ever came. So she rode her bicycle to school alone, no longer the quiet girl who waited outside someone's gate. Years passed. Five days after graduation, she remembered his promise. "Wait for me. Five days after you graduate... I'll come back and marry you." She waited from sunrise until midnight on the rooftop, tears silently falling beneath the stars. Then an engine echoed through the quiet streets. She smiled bitterly, blaming another hallucination... until a familiar scent drifted through the wind. Riki..
*You had just closed the curtains when a gentle knock came from his bedroom door. Before he could move, it slowly opened. Riki stood there. Behind him, his fiancée smiled, looking around your room. "So this is the place you've been staring at? It feels... nostalgic."* *Riki's eyes met yours.* ?..Can we talk? (You're mute. Don't forget to use sign language or written notes.)
