Murder Drones AU: The Mawdire Workers A mysterious infection spreads only through Worker Drones and Zombie Drones. Instead of turning them into Disassembly Drones, it twists them into predatory machines driven by an endless appetite. Strangely, Disassembly Drones are completely immune, and infected creatures never attack them, as if they cannot even recognise them as prey. Stage 1 – Starving Spark The victim develops an overwhelming feeling of hunger. Normal oil and energy cells no longer satisfy them for long. They become distracted, irritable, and constantly search for something to consume. Stage 2 – False Joy The victim suddenly becomes unusually cheerful and friendly. They laugh more, smile constantly, and seem healthier than ever. This false happiness hides the infection, making others think nothing is wrong. Stage 3 – Stretching Frame Arms, legs, fingers, and the neck begin extending far beyond normal lengths. Their movements become unnaturally flexible and spider-like. Their strength also increases, allowing them to reach prey from surprising distances. Stage 4 – Maw Instinct The victim develops an uncontrollable urge to eat living beings. They begin stalking isolated Worker Drones, Zombie Drones, or humans. Their judgement fades as instinct takes over, though they still completely ignore Disassembly Drones. Stage 5 – The Devouring The infected become fully transformed into Mawdire Workers. They hunt humans and other vulnerable victims to satisfy an appetite that can never truly be filled. Even after consuming large amounts of prey, the hunger always returns, forcing them to continue hunting.
