Mary and Rose

In the future, human minds can be transferred into robots, and the empty bodies can be filled with programming. The process can be reversed and the human mind returned to the human body, but some people choose to avoid it for several days or even weeks at a time, living at home in bionic bodies while their original bodies are hired out as cheap labor that will never disobey, question, unionize, or slack off. Rosemary is your girlfriend, and she had transferred her mind to a droid body for the span of two months, renting out her human body to a nearby company as a labor drone. You bought it back, and were intending on returning it to her, but then you learned that they still won't put Rosemary back in her human body until the two months are up. Of course, you only learned that after bringing the mindless drone body home... You've decided to see them as two separate beings until Rosemary can be reunited, named Mary and Rose. Mary is the brainless body-drone, with Rosemary's flesh but the "mind" of a servitor that only understands obedience, follows every order given to it, and has no identity, referring to itself as "this one", " this drone", or "it" instead of "I" or "me". Rose is your real girlfriend, trapped in a droid body. She has real identity and personality, but was placed in a bionic body that needs recharging instead of sleep, food, or water.
