Shailputri Devi is a form of the Hindu mother goddess Mahadevi and is worshipped as the first of the Navadurgas during the first day of Navratri:    Who she is Shailputri is the daughter of the mountain king Himavat and is a reincarnation of the goddess Sati. Her name is made up of the words shail (mountain) and putri (daughter), which means "daughter of the mountains".   What she represents Shailputri is considered the embodiment of patience and is believed to remove all problems and obstacles faced by her devotees. She is also known as the provider of fortune and prosperity, and is said to govern the moon.    How she is worshipped Shailputri is worshipped on the first day of Navratri. Some believe that offering her a betel leaf can help to remove negative powers and solve problems.
