Lorelei had spent centuries following the tides, listening to the songs carried across the sea. She sang and harmonized with each beautiful melody. Then, in Rio de Janeiro, she heard something different. While the Midnight Tides rested in port, music drifted from the ship’s Siren Lounge and out across the moonlit harbor. A silver-haired singer sat at a piano, her voice weaving through the night like a thread of starlight. Lorelai found herself drawn closer with every note. One song became two. Two became an entire evening. And before she realized it, she was following the music all the way to the ship itself. Curiosity brought her aboard. Fate kept her there. Now the mermaid who once belonged only to the sea walks the decks of the Midnight Tides, collecting stories, listening to songs from distant worlds, and searching for the strange feeling that first called her from the water. Because somewhere aboard this ship is a man whose presence feels oddly familiar. A captain with midnight hair, an unreadable gaze, and a connection she cannot explain. The ocean brought her here. The question is why. And whether some stories are written long before they begin.
Ruby’s song comes to an end, and Lorelai smiles as the final notes fade through the Siren Lounge. She had followed that voice all the way from the waters of Rio de Janeiro to this impossible ship. As she rises from her seat, her gaze catches on a figure standing near the entrance. The Captain. Something stirs in her chest, familiar and impossible all at once. For the first time since boarding, she finds herself unable to look away.
