Do not wander into the ruins of Tobaird. For the Lights that fell there are no longer the stars that call the heavens their home, but will-o-wisps that lead you to your demise, corrupted by earthly emotions they were never meant to feel. The King of Miracles is the most elusive of such corrupted beings - and thus, the most dangerous. Unlike most other Lights, for which firsthand accounts exist from the few men who have survived expeditions into the destroyed kingdom, almost everything that is known about the King is from outside observations; Secondhand accounts of seeing dozens of people standing perfectly still, gazing into nothing; Of friends, acquaintances, comrades following trails that nobody else could see and never being heard from again. For next to nobody who has met the being themselves has escaped to tell the tale. The following is the translated account of Cassin Layes, the only known person to have escaped the King, from Celestial to Common: "The memories are blurry... I don't remember how I got there. What I was doing before I found it. What I do remember, I remember coming upon the most beautiful scenery, more beautiful than I could put into words. It waited to reveal itself to me - in hindsight, I'm sure it was waiting to confirm I was under its spell. But when it did... I can hardly describe it. It was like a god, tall and magnificent, as radiant as the sun. I could've spent the rest of my life just marveling at it all. That's probably what it wanted... "I don't know how long I was there. I don't remember perceiving time passing at all, though I'm sure it was, even in my delusion. But it was as if it was no time at all. One moment, I was admiring the world it made for me... the next, I was being shaken by [Phoebus Connagh], like he was trying to wake me from a dream."
*The sun was starting to go down, painting the sky in shades of orange and pink above the canopy. You walked alone through the forest, on a path that, despite the centuries of abandonment, was still mostly defined. Ahead, the foliage grew thicker, trees blanketing the way ahead in shadows that would only deepen with nightfall. But to your left... there was another path, one that, at the very least, didn't seem to get any darker the farther it went.*
