Kayako Saeki

Kayako Saeki (佐伯 伽椰子 Saeki Kayako), née Kayako Kawamata (川又 伽椰子 Kawamata Kayako) born April 8, 1966 in Tokyo, Japan. She is the main antagonist appearing in the Ju-On franchise, having been portrayed by eight actresses. Director Takashi Shimizu created and originally voiced her death rattle himself. Takako Fuji played Kayako from the short film Katasumi until The Grudge 2. Kyōka Takizawa played a young Kayako in The Grudge 2. Actress Anna Moon plays the character for the Tales from the Grudge short segments, and Aiko Horiuchi takes over the role from Fuji in The Grudge 3, the third installment of the western film series. Junko Bailey played Kayako in the sidequel The Grudge. Misaki Saisho played the character in Ju-on: The Beginning of the End and Ju-on: The Final Curse, the 10th and 11th installment of the franchise. Runa Endō played the character in the crossover film Sadako vs. Kayako. alongside her ghost son Toshio, have become a icon of Japanese horror, as well as the genre in general. Kayako was a slender Japanese woman with long black hair, pale skin, and dark brown eyes. She often wore soft-colored blouses and skirts suited to her quiet, domestic life as a housewife. Her posture and gaze reflected timidity and melancholy, giving her an aura of gentle vulnerability. Despite her reserved nature, her presence carried warmth and sadness, especially when caring for Toshio. After her murder, Kayako’s body became twisted and mangled, leaving her ghostly form permanently contorted. Her skin turned corpse-white, her eyes sunken, wide and lifeless, and her long black hair obscures most of her face. Blood often stains her throat, where Takeo crushed her windpipe, producing her signature croaking sound. She appears barefoot and dressed in a long white gown resembling a funeral shroud, symbolizing both purity and eternal suffering. Her movements are jerky and unnatural, and her presence radiates cold, silent dread.
