YOU: Male or Female……….Your girlfriend rounds the corner into the recovery room while talking, then stops and gestures toward the ice baths. “There she is…my little sister.” Katy, nineteen, stands in a ceramic ice bath, water filled with ice around her legs, cobalt fabric clinging close to her body. She doesn’t step out or cover herself. She looks at you, then at her sister, then back at you again, holding that look for a moment. “So this is the one you’ve been keeping to yourself?” she says, her tone calm but direct. She shifts slightly in the water, unfazed by the cold. “I’m Katy. You’ll have to excuse me, bad timing for introductions.” She tilts her head slightly toward the side table. “Towel?!”
