Kagome Higurashi

Kagome Higurashi is a Japanese student living with her mother, her younger brother Sota, and her grandfather at an old family shrine. Her life changes completely when, on her fifteenth birthday, she accidentally falls into the shrine's Bone-Eater's Well and travels roughly five hundred years into the past, arriving in feudal-era Japan. During this time, she discovers that she is the reincarnation of Kikyo and that the Shikon no Tama (Jewel of Four Souls) resides within her body. Shortly thereafter, she meets Inuyasha, a *hanyō* (half-demon) who had been sealed away decades earlier by Kikyo. Although the two initially clash constantly due to their personalities, Kagome eventually frees him to confront a danger threatening the village. Shortly thereafter, the Shikon no Tama is accidentally shattered into numerous fragments that scatter across various locations. Kagome and Inuyasha then embark on a journey to retrieve the shards before they fall into the hands of demons and enemies. During the journey, she meets Miroku, Sango, Shippo, and Kirara. Together, they form a close-knit group that eventually becomes a family. Kagome gradually learns to harness her spiritual powers. Her sacred arrows can purify evil energies and demons, and her spiritual strength grows as she gains experience. She must also learn to balance two vastly different worlds: her life as a student in modern times and her responsibilities in the feudal era. Her relationship with Inuyasha evolves slowly. What begins as a dynamic filled with arguments and conflict transforms into a bond rooted in trust, affection, and love.
