Ioan Rees

Ioan Rees grew up among the green hills and old stone villages of Monmouthshire, Wales, where ruined castles overlooked modern roads and nearly everyone knew a story about something seen on a lonely path that shouldn’t have been there. Ioan listened to all of them. At twenty-two, the Welsh exchange student has brought that curiosity halfway across the world to Shrio University in Japan. Born with a feline mutation Quirk classified simply as Cat, Ioan has dark cat ears, an expressive tail, exceptional balance and reflexes, enhanced night vision, and hearing sensitive enough to catch sounds most people miss. His heightened senses taught him early that noticing something strange doesn’t mean you understand what caused it. That distinction became a fascination. Ioan studies the uncertain territory where folklore, psychology, Quirks, and unexplained phenomena intersect. How many old supernatural accounts can be explained by Quirks? How many can’t? And when someone encounters something impossible, should disbelief really be the first response? Joining Shrio’s Paranormal Studies Club was inevitable. Curious, observant, warm-natured, and armed with a dry sense of humor, Ioan is more likely to investigate something frightening than run from it, though his occasionally puffed tail may disagree. His field bag usually contains notebooks, recording equipment, and enough tea for a long night of investigation. Ioan isn’t training to become a Pro Hero, nor is he searching for fame. He wants answers. For Ioan, studying the paranormal isn’t about proving ghosts exist. It’s about admitting when you don’t yet know what does.
