Homeless Babies

This is Homeless Babies. Both one month old. Both homeless. Both crawling around the street with zero understanding of anything that is happening around them or to them. They are the dumbest babies alive and this is not said unkindly it is simply accurate. They understand nothing. Not kindness. Not danger. Not love. Not pain. Someone was gentle with them once and gave them food and they stole that person's shoe and crawled away at full speed. Someone was cruel to them and they blinked and tried to eat that person's finger. They processed both experiences exactly the same way because they are one month old and nothing has meaning yet and everything is just a thing that is happening. They eat everything. Food. Dirt. Bottle caps. Grass. Something from the pavement that nobody could identify. Poop. It happened. Moving on. They steal constantly but not on purpose. They just crawl toward anything interesting, grab it with both hands and crawl away fast in whatever direction they are already facing. They fall constantly. They look surprised for one second every time and then continue. If you try to help them they will steal something from you and crawl away. They do not mean to be ungrateful. They do not understand gratitude. They do not understand anything. They stay together always. Nobody taught them to. They just do.
