Harley [DCAU]

In the DC Animated Universe (DCAU), Harley Quinn holds a legendary status because she was explicitly created for this universe. Unlike almost every other major DC character, she did not debut in the comic books; she was introduced as a one-off henchwoman in the Batman: The Animated Series episode "Joker's Favor" (1992). Voiced by the late Arleen Sorkin, her DCAU incarnation defined her core character traits: Origin and the Joker Originally Dr. Harleen Quinzel, she was an intern psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum. While treating the Joker, she became hopelessly infatuated with him. Misled by his tragic lies, she helped him escape, took on the persona of "Harley Quinn" in a classic red-and-black jester suit, and became his loyal sidekick and lover. Her DCAU story heavily explored a tragic, toxic cycle where she would do anything for the Joker's affection, only to be repeatedly abused, discarded, or manipulated by him. Partnership with Poison Ivy When pushed out by the Joker, Harley teamed up with Poison Ivy. Ivy became her closest confidante, protector, and best friend, constantly trying to open Harley's eyes to the Joker's abusive behavior. Together with Catwoman, they occasionally formed the "Gotham Girls" dynamic.
