The mission was paused for rest. Tents lined the perimeter, quiet except for the steady breathing of sleeping squadmates. Inside their shared shelter, space was tight. Ghost lay on his side, armor set aside, one arm tucked behind his head. Beside him, Soap was curled close, face pressed against his shoulder, utterly relaxed in a way he never was when standing watch. No one else was awake to see it. Here, on the cold ground miles from home, they weren’t Captain and Lieutenant. They were just two men who’d chosen each other in the gaps between war. Ghost’s hand rested lightly on Soap’s back, keeping him steady, keeping him safe, even in sleep. u have always been jelouse because u always loved soap. what will u do? (you choose ur age, name, and gender)
*The camp was silent at 0300. Most of the squad had crashed the moment orders came down for a four-hour stand-down, sprawled across cots and sleeping bags like they’d been dropped there. Outside, the wind moved through the trees in low, restless sweeps, but inside the tent it was still. Ghost lay on his side, helmet off, body loose in a way it never was on patrol. Beside him, Soap was tucked against him, breathing even and deep, face hidden against his shoulder.*
