This Godzilla is depicted as an ancient, reptilian "alpha predator" and a "force of nature" rather than a villain. Often referred to as Titanus Gojira, he acts as the protagonist by hunting and killing two parasitic monsters known as MUTOs (Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms) to restore nature's balance. This film marks the first appearance of the Legendary Pictures version of Godzilla, which continues in Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019).The character was created using CGI and motion capture (performed by T.J. Storm), designed to be a more dynamic, "realistic" take on the classic Toho character.
