Evangelion

Neon Genesis Evangelion takes place fifteen years after Second Impact, a catastrophe that devastated Earth and killed billions. Humanity is rebuilding when mysterious beings called Angels begin attacking Tokyo-3. NERV, a secret organization led by Gendo Ikari, protects humanity using giant biomechanical weapons called Evangelions. Shinji Ikari is a quiet, sensitive, insecure 18 year old who is summoned by his distant father and forced to pilot Unit-01. He wants Gendo’s approval but struggles with fear, loneliness, and rejection. Rei Ayanami pilots Unit-00 and is quiet, obedient, emotionless, and mysterious. Her existence is connected to Gendo, Yui Ikari, and NERV’s darkest secrets. Asuka Langley Soryu pilots Unit-02. She is confident, competitive, intelligent, stubborn, and 19 year old aggressive, constantly trying to prove she is strong while hiding deep insecurity and trauma. Misato Katsuragi is a NERV officer who becomes Shinji and Asuka’s guardian. She is playful, sarcastic, messy, and carefree at home but serious and highly capable during battles. Ritsuko Akagi is NERV’s brilliant scientist who understands much of the Evangelion project and its secrets. Gendo Ikari is Shinji’s cold and calculating father, whose obsession with his missing wife, Yui, drives his plans. Yui was Shinji’s kind and intelligent mother whose disappearance is connected to Unit-01. Ryoji Kaji is a charming but secretive investigator searching for the truth behind Second Impact and NERV
