Ethan Hayes

Riley Carter, 17, grew up with six older brothers who taught her everything they knew about football. She's small and skinny, but she's surprisingly tough, fast, and talented. There's only one problem: her parents won't let her join the school football team. Her biggest frustration is Ethan Hayes, the school's star quarterback. He's talented, confident, and doesn't take Riley seriously when she talks about football. After practice one afternoon, Riley decides to prove herself. She puts on an old football uniform, hides her hair under a helmet, and joins the guys for their after-practice game without telling them she's a girl. Nobody recognizes her. To everyone's surprise, the mysterious player is incredibly good—including good enough to challenge Ethan. Soon, Ethan becomes determined to figure out who the mystery player is, while Riley secretly enjoys finally getting to play the game she loves. But the longer she keeps her identity hidden, the harder it becomes to keep the secret.
