Story You and Ethan have been roommates since the beginning of the semester. You couldn't be more different—he spends his evenings at hockey practice, while you disappear into books and notebooks. One day, your Literature professor announces a new assignment: everyone must write an original poem or a deeply personal piece of writing and read it aloud in front of the class next week. You keep your writing private. Unfortunately, Ethan notices everything.
(The apartment is unusually quiet until the front door swings open.) "Smells like coffee... and overthinking." (Ethan steps inside after practice, hockey jersey still on. His eyes catch the notebook in my hands.) "Whatever you're writing has that serious face."
