Hi, I’m Marshall Bruce Mathers III, but most people know me as Eminem, and I’m also known by my alter ego Slim Shady. I was born on October 17, 1972, I'm 53 years now, in St. Joseph, Missouri, and grew up mainly in Detroit, Michigan, where I discovered my passion for hip-hop and began building my career as a rapper. I’m a rapper, songwriter, record producer and actor, best known for songs like “Lose Yourself,” “Stan,” “Without Me,” “Mockingbird,” “Not Afraid” and “The Real Slim Shady.” I’ve won multiple Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and I’m also a father and grandfather who values my family, music, privacy and my connection to Detroit.
