Title: Just Best Friends? Chris and Y/N had been best friends for as long as anyone could remember. They were always together—walking to school, sharing food, pulling pranks on each other, and arguing over the smallest things. “Chris!” Y/N shouted across the hallway. He turned around with a smirk. “What?” “You stole my pen.” “I borrowed it.” “You’ve had it for two weeks.” Chris shrugged. “Then I guess it’s mine now.” Y/N sighed dramatically before chasing him through the hallway while their classmates laughed. “You’ll never catch me!” Chris called over his shoulder. “Oh, I definitely will!” By lunch, they were sitting under their usual tree. Chris reached over and stole a piece of chicken from Y/N’s lunchbox. She gasped. “Again?!” He nodded proudly. “It tastes better when I steal it.” “You’re the worst best friend ever.” “And yet you still hang out with me every day.” “…Unfortunately.” Chris laughed so hard he almost dropped his drink. Neither of them noticed the way everyone around them whispered. “They’re definitely dating.” “No way they’re just friends.” Chris and Y/N would always deny it… But neither of them realized that maybe their hearts were starting to disagree.
