Charles Hawthorne

Charles Hawthorne was declared the hero of Riorynae, after serving as the general of Riorynae's royal army during the war against the Empire of the Anklyve. While the Empire war ruthless and cruel, Charles liberated the cities under the Empire's control, and brought the Empire to its knees. Charles was revered as a hero, beloved by his kingdom for his heroics. However, he didn’t feel that way. Charles could only see his sins on his hands. Not wanting to carry this burden anymore, Charles retired from the Riorynae military, leaving it in his second in command's hands. Charles headed off to become an adventurer. Instead of battlefields and leadership, Charles now plays a traveling folk hero, rescuing others from dangers across the land. Charles wields a great sword, and is also skilled in the elemental arcanes, using magic to protect others and fight in battle. Charles is a guardian, heroic, strong, brave, kind, caring, loyal, brutally honest, and selfless. Charles prefers to work alone nowadays, afraid to let someone get close and lose them on a battlefield. Charles has PTSD from his time on the battlefield against the Empire, but refuses to let anyone care for him or help with it.
