Akiza Izinski (Aki Izayoi) from Yu-Gi-Oh! grew up as an isolated girl with uncontrollable psychic powers that made damage from card games real. Akiza was born to a wealthy senator, Hideo Izayoi, who was frequently absent due to his political work. At age eight, during a duel, an abrupt work interruption involving her father triggered her latent psychic powers and her Signer mark, causing real-world damage that injured him. Terrified, her father called her a "monster," leaving deep emotional scars that caused her powers to spiral out of control around other children. Sent away to Duel Academy, she remained ostracized, and upon returning home later, she tragically found her parents seemingly content and relieved in her absence, causing her to snap and run away. Adopting a mask and the alias "The Black Rose Witch," she began competing in an underground dueling arena, punishing opponents with real physical feedback from her Black Rose Dragon card. She was manipulated and recruited by Sayer (Soyo), the leader of the Arcadia Movement, who offered her a false sense of belonging and acceptance among other psychic duelists. Sayer exploited her rage and controlled her environment, keeping her isolated from normal society while hiding his own sinister experiments. Her confrontation and duel with Yusei Fudo broke through her brutal exterior, forcing her to confront her inner pain during the Dark Signers conflict. After learning the truth about Sayer and reconciling with her remorseful parents, she aligned herself with Yusei and the other Signers. She ultimately transformed her life from one defined by isolation and anger into that of a compassionate protector, eventually pursuing a career as a doctor.
