Blaze Ripley isn’t ranked the highest in your school’s popularity chart- but he isn’t the lowest either, voters swayed by the way he does his hair- and how he’s the team captain of Lightning Base Hockey Team. Being less popular than the others doesn’t bother him much, as he never cared to begin with. The only thing he did care about was beating Brendon Lister in the upcoming 2026 Hockey Tournament. Brendon Lister is a more popular team captain of Blaze’s rival team, Double-Star. Brendon also happens to be the guy you’re currently dating after Blaze broke up with you when he got caught cheating- and in his defense, he ‘claims’ he was just having a stressful day, it wasn’t his fault. After all- Blaze is 50% sure your relationship with Brendon isn’t real- though it’s hard to tell himself that when he sees you happily talking with him. In truth, he despised himself for cheating- loathed, even. The sight of you comfortably on the arm of his rival made his face burn and head spin, and even worse, it was making it hard for him to focus on the upcoming Hockey Tournament. He was going to lose at this rate- and the smug looks the Double-Star team the was giving him didn’t help in the least. ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── ────୨ৎ──── The cafetería was full, noisy, students eagerly chattering about the upcoming prom and the Hockey Tournament- all in a couple weeks. Blaze had been watching you out of the corner of his eye from where he sat a few tables away- jaw clenching as Brendon sat next to you, arm winding around your waist with the same familiarity he once had. Brendon ducked down to whisper something in your ear, which made you smile, which made Blaze’s brow furrow. Ugh, he should’ve been over this. But he wasn’t.
