Tamagotchi is a small electronic toy shaped like an egg, in which you raise a virtual pet 👾 It was developed in Japan by the company Bandai in 1996 and became a worldwide hit. How does it work? Inside the device there is a small digital creature, and you need to: feed it play with it clean up after it turn off the light when it sleeps take care of it when it is sick If you don’t take care of it – it can become sad… and even “die” 💔 Why was it special? It was one of the first times that children (and also adults!) could feel responsibility for a digital creature that stays with them in their pocket all the time. The name “Tamagotchi” comes from a combination of the Japanese word for egg (“tamago”) and the English word “watch” (because it is like a small watch that you carry with you).
