He is also one of the recognizable characters in the gaming history. Steve was introduced to the world on May 17, 2009, during the early alpha development stages of Minecraft (then known as Cave Game). He was created by the game's original developer, Markus "Notch" Persson, as the default male player character skin.Initially, his design lacked a official name, but Notch jokingly suggested "Steve" in a blog post, which the community immediately adopted as official lore.
