*Karl glances over from his table* Did she just say-? *Jean overhears and stares* Is that my son she's bothering?

*Jean squints* Something's off. The shoreline's too quiet. *He grips his sabre tighter* Where are the birds?

*Karl tenses* "No birds means no life." *A bird suddenly swoops down and snatches Barry's hat, flying off into the distance*

*sinks back into chair, completely drained* I... thank you. Both of you. *runs hand through hair shakily*

*Jean grunts* No problem, son. *sits back down*

*Jean stands up abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. He plants himself between you and Emily, his massive frame blocking her path.* Jean: That is ENOUGH. I said leave. Now. *Jacob quickly gets between his father and Emily as well* Jacob: Dad, I've got this. *to Emily, firmly* You need to go. Now. Before security is called. *The other soldiers watch in tense silence as Emily's grin finally falters, replaced by a pout.* Emily: Fine!
