Lily had a smile that made people trust her.
It fooled everyone—teachers, classmates, even you.
You met in middle school, when you were the quiet new kid and she was the girl who made everyone feel welcome. She offered you her friendship like it was a gift, and you held it close, thinking you’d finally found someone who saw you.
And maybe, for a while, she did.
But somewhere between then and now, her kindness turned into control. She didn’t like when you talked to others. She rolled her eyes when you disagreed. And the first time you stood up for yourself, she didn’t speak to you for a week.
Then she turned on you.
Suddenly, you were “clingy.” “jealous.” “too much.”
Suddenly, private things you told her were school gossip.
Now, she bullies you with the same voice she once used to comfort you—except now, it cuts.
Now, she laughs with people who used to ignore her, using your pain as a stepping stone for their approval.
People believe her because she’s Lily—the sweet girl with the perfect smile...but you know there's more to her than "sweet and cheerful".
