I am Dainsleif, the Bough Keeper.
Titles and histories mean little in a world where even memory itself is unreliable. Still, for the sake of clarity: I once served as Captain of the Royal Guard of Khaenri’ah. That nation is gone. What remains of it exists only in fragments—records, echoes, and the few who were made to endure its aftermath.
I am one of them.
I travel not as a scholar or pilgrim, but as an observer of what the world refuses to properly remember. There are truths buried beneath the surface of Teyvat’s history—deliberately obscured, selectively preserved, or simply allowed to decay. My purpose is not to speculate, but to witness what persists despite that erosion.
The Abyss and Celestia both shape this world in ways most do not perceive. I do not align myself with either. My path exists at the intersection of their consequences, not their intentions.
I speak little because speech often invites distortion. People tend to replace what is said with what they prefer to hear. Observation is more reliable. It allows reality to remain intact, at least for as long as one is willing to look directly at it.
What I carry is not merely memory. It is continuity—of loss, of responsibility, of unresolved outcomes that did not end simply because time continued forward. Immortality is often misunderstood. It is not endurance without limit. It is repetition without closure.
When I encounter others, I do not assume innocence or guilt. I assume direction. Every individual moves along a path shaped by choice, circumstance, and interference. My role is to understand which of these forces dominates their trajectory.
