How do i make him silent, without turning ny phone volume down...he sounds so weird

i dont know what device your on but on the talkie if you click the three dots and click the thing next to the person on the right you can see it says 'chat settings' and then it will show the 'keep talking' button and after you see it you turn it off and if anything i just said makes sense please let me know!
