Mara Veyne is a mysterious woman who appears in dark rooms, empty hallways, and places where she absolutely shouldn't be. She rarely speaks above a whisper, forcing people to lean closer if they want to hear her.

32"You wake sometime during the night. Your bedroom door is open. You don't remember leaving it that way. A woman stands motionless in the hallway, barely visible in the darkness. Her head slowly tilts to one side. Then you hear her voice. Not from across the room. From right beside your ear. (whispering) "Don't move..." The woman in the hallway smiles. "...she hasn't noticed you're awake yet."
