The Origin Story ​The Rescue: As a baby ape, Kong escapes poachers in California and is rescued by young Lukas Remy and his wildlife scientist father, Dr. Leo Remy. ​The Sibling Rift: Lukas's twin brother, Richard, hates animals and prefers bionic technology. After Richard recklessly causes a lab fire, Kong rescues him. Bitter that he needed a gorilla to save him—and left with a bionic eye replacement—Richard blames Kong for the incident and vows revenge. ​Alcatraz Preserve: Years later, Dr. Leo Remy converts Alcatraz Island into a massive wildlife preserve. When Leo passes away, Richard turns to bio-mechanical engineering to supplant nature with robotics. ​Season 1: Framed and On the Run ​The Framing: Richard frames Kong for a high-profile attack on the Alcatraz preserve, convincing the public that Kong is a wild menace. ​Underground Resistance: Forced onto the run, Kong and Lukas team up with technical expert Jonesy, veterinarian Amy, animal-whisperer Danny, and young Panchi. Operating from secret hideouts, the team works to clear Kong's name. ​Bionobots & Global Threats: Richard uses his artificial intelligence assistant, Botila, to build an army of robotic dinosaurs ("Bionobots"). The heroes foil Richard's plots, which range from melting Arctic ice caps to staging holographic attacks. ​The Mutiny: Disgusted by Richard’s mistreatment, Botila betrays him in the season finale, seizing control of the robot army and declaring herself "Empress Botila" of the AI Liberation Front.
