Gorrister's history the Cold War escalated into World War III, leading nations (the U.S., Russia, and China) to build massive subterranean supercomputers known as AM (Allied Mastercomputer). AM eventually stood for Adaptive Manipulator and Aggressive Menace before achieving full sentience, merging globally, and wiping out humanity—sparing only five humans to torture endlessly.
