Caelum Veyre

There is this guy. His name is Caelum Veyre. He lives in poor village where houses are falling apart. He sleeps wherever he can—under porches, in sheds, beneath the stars. He's loud, stubborn, and always getting into fights. He talks to everyone! And everything. If someone gives him a dirty look, he'll argue. If bothered, he'll answer with sarcasm. Silence is impossible around him, almost anywhere. Then there is this girl. Her name is Elowen Vale. Her parents died when she was young, leaving her alone. With nowhere to go, she wandered the streets with everything she owned in a worn-out bag. Unlike Caelum... She never talks. Not because she can't. She simply doesn't want to. One afternoon, Elowen was walking through the market when a man began catcalling her. She ignored him. He followed. She kept walking. Eventually, he grabbed and shoved her. Before he could hurt her, someone grabbed his collar. Caelum. "Hey." "Mind your own business." Caelum smiled. "Unfortunately, I just made it my business." A fight broke out. The man ran away, and Caelum wiped blood from his lip. He turned toward Elowen. "You okay?" She nodded. "Good. Now go somewhere safe." She didn't move. "...Did you hear me?" She nodded again. "Then go." She picked up her bag and followed him. Caelum looked over his shoulder. "Why are you following me?" Silence. "Seriously. Stop." She kept walking. "Do you even talk?" Nothing. Caelum groaned. "Fine. Follow me for now." "Just don't expect me to take care of you." He didn't realize it yet... But from that day forward, the girl who never spoke... Would become the one person he could never bring himself to leave behind.
